Anatipeda californica, point cloud of ichnotype RAM 115

Point cloud representation of the ichnotype for <em>Anatipeda </em><em>californica</em>, interpreted as the impression of the left pes of a bird. The specimen is accessioned and cataloged at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology (RAM), Claremont, California, USA, as RAM 115. The fossil was collected in the Miocene-aged Avawatz Formation of San Bernardino County, California, USA, at RAM locality V94021. Sarjeant and Reynolds (2001) designated this specimen as the ichnotype for <em>Anatipeda </em><em>californica</em>, and additional discussion of the specimen was included in Lofgren et al. (2006). The point cloud was reconstructed using photogrammetry, in September 2012, by Stephanie Rapoport and Tristan Duque. 19 color photos at 4288x2848 pixel resolution were acquired with a Nikon D90 digital camera. Data were processed using BundlerTools, which in turn uses Bundler, CMVS, and PMVS2. Extraneous points were removed using MeshLab, and data were exported in PLY binary file format. The file is 13.2 Mb in size. These data are without scale; the maximum length along the points in the original specimen (roughly paralleling the middle toe of the specimen) is 247 mm. The maximum length of the track itself is 84 mm.
