The Australian Gallup Polls, commissioned by Australian Public Opinion Polls (The Gallup Method) cover the periods of 1943-1968 and 1975-1987. Australian Gallup Polls comprise two subseries: the earlier series conducted by Roy Morgan (1943-1968); and the later series by McNair Anderson Associates (1975-1983). Opinion polls in the earlier series were conducted on a regular basis by Roy Morgan and the current holding of this archive date from July 1943 to August 1968, a total of 89 polls. The data are also available from the Roper Centre, University of Connecticut, U.S.A, where they were originally deposited. Topics covered in this survey are attitudes to lotteries, child endowment, government owned airlines, religion in schools, mode of interstate travel, voting hours, trade with Japan, the entry of Jews into Palestine and intended vote on the referenda on terms and conditions of employment, marketing of primary products and social services. Standard variables are vehicle and telephone ownership, occupation, religion, economic classification, age, sex, vote intention and vote at last Federal election.
