The draft genome of an Antarctic moss Sanionia uncinata

If the recent global warming trend observed on the Antarctic Peninsula persists over the long term, increasing aridity is expected, due to the loss of glaciers. However, the molecular mechanisms of Antarctic moss that allow survival in this harsh and dynamic region have yet to be investigated. Thus, we assembled a draft genome of Sanionia uncinata. A high-quality genome assembly of Sanionia uncinata will facilitate genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic analyses of the quality traits that make the moss species one of the world’s strongest plant.
