Pyrochar mediated chain elongation

Microbial chain elongation fermentation is an alternative technology for medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) production. However, the production of value-added longer MCFAs (for example, C6 n-caproate) can be challenging due to lower production selectivity. The addition of carbonaceous materials in chain elongation may promote microbial interactions and steer metabolic pathways towards n-caproate production.
