Route of the green road of Armagnac

The old railway located between Condom-Eauze (more than 32 kms), disused for almost half a century, was acquired by the Departmental Council of Gers which wished to develop it on a green road. Through this project aimed at the practice of local leisure and the diffusion of gentle modes of travel, it emerges a desire to develop the tourist economy of the territory.

A provisional route was staked in a shared site, in order to bypass the Pomiro tunnel. Indeed, it is not open to the public because bats have taken up residence there. This bypass of the site and a protective grid now guarantee the tranquility of this colony of nearly 500 individuals, which is the subject of a follow-up in partnership with the Conservatoire d’Espaces Naturels d’Occitanie. The creation of a route, in its own site, is being studied and will make it possible to ensure the link between the two sections of the Route Verte de l’Armagnac already developed.
