Bloodstream infection (BSI) caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae is systemic and usually results in relatively high mortality, especially in infections caused by hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp). However, the mechanisms contributing to its pathogenesis are still poorly understood. here, we characterized outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) secreted by hvKp of the major clone of bloodstream infection and investigated their pathogenic effects on macrophages.
