Kuohenmaa Orbicule preview

The sample is an orbicule from the large-orbicule variety of the Kuohenmaa (Kangasala) orbicular quartz monzonite (61°21'57.7"N 24°03'05.6"E). The main minerals of the orbicule are plagioclase (An25-30) and biotite with minor alkali feldspar, muscovite, chlorite, quartz, and allanite. The purpose of the scan is to visualize the inner structures of the concentric orbicule shells, to test the resolution of the scan in recognizing individual subshells within the structure, and to detect the dispersion of any potential denser mineral phases within the structure.
