Gene database of Clostridium perfringens ATCC 13124

<i>Clostridium perfringens </i>is a spore-forming, Gram-positive anaerobic bacterium commonly found in the natural environment. It could cause serious food poisoning, and has the shortest generation time of any bacteria at 6.3 minutes in thioglycolate medium. Given its fast doubling time, and formidable arsenal of pathogenic effectors, it has been the subject of intense research in host-microbe interactions. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire of <i>C. perfringens</i> ATCC 13124 by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function and gene sequence of all genes in the genome of <i>C. perfringens</i>, the resource should find use in guiding experiments seeking to construct loss-of-function mutants in studying pathogenesis, as well as understanding its survivability in the gastrointestinal tract environment.
