资源简介:
This register contains a summary record of all gazetted residential leases in the Land District of Tumbarumba, kept by the Tumbarumba Lands Office. This tenure was introduced in 1889 under the Crown Lands Act of 1889 (53 Vic. No.21). Under this tenure, original and additional residential leases of land within a gold field or mineral field could be acquired up to a total area of twenty acres by the holder of a Miner's Right for the purpose of residence.Once an application for a Residential Lease had been approved and the notice published in the NSW Government Gazette, the Land Agent would record the Lease information in this register. Each entry was arranged according to the Residential Lease number published in the Gazette. The register was then used to record all payments of rent. Each entry contains information relating to the original applicant as well as subsequent transferees. The register records information such as the number of the lease, name and address of lessee or transferee; date of transfers; date of transition of transfer to Head Office; date of letter intimating registration of transfer at Head Office; date of commencement of lease; date published in Government Gazette; date and number of applications; County, Parish; number of portion or lot; name of Gold or Mineral Field; date of forfeiture; area; annual rent; payment of rent, date of payment and period paid for; fine on late payment; year ending; rent including the amount paid with the application; and any further remarks or notation.
