Staphylococcus aureus isolates from the respiratory track in mechanically-ventilated patients

Staphylococcus aureus is a commensal and frequent colonizer of the upper respiratory tract. In mechanically-ventilated patients, S. aureus is frequently isolated but distinguishing between colonization and infection is difficult. We created WGS from sequential isolates to identify changes related to the survival in the respiratory tract and to explore phenotypic-genotypic features with patient's study group, persistence and clinical outcome.
