Validation Study for Candidate AD miRNA Biomarkers in Human CSF

We used an independent cohort of patient CSF samples from living donors obtained from the Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at the Univ of CA, San Diego to validate the expression of 36 candidate AD miRNA biomarkers. The miRNAs were quantified on custom Taqman Low Density miRNA Arrays from ThermoFisher Scientific; miRNA probes were consistent to those used in the UH2 discovery arrays. 47 Alzheimers disease (AD), 71 age- and sex-matched neurologically normal Controls. 1 reference standard (pooled from 2 donors) that was used to track variation across processing batches. Custom array comprised of 3 technical replicates per miRNA probe. One normal control (Sample EXR-JSAUG1UH3060-BS) was excluded due to complete lack of miRNA expression.
