Influence of oral roughage administration on rumen bacterial development of calves

Bacterial colonization in young rumen is an important factor influencing the early development and post-weaning performance of calves. Pre-weaning diet plays a crucial role in the development of rumen bacterial structure. This study evaluated the short- and long-term effect of oral roughage administration in dairy calves on rumen bacterial colonization.
