This dataset includes raw data generated during research for the Ph.D. thesis, "labelling high-status women with masculine references. The dataset includes research ethics approval documents, questionnairs and demographic informations. The thesis project investigates a noteworthy phenomenon emerged in recent years in China. When confronted with certain kinds of women, people label them with masculine references, such as “gē” (“brother” in English), “nǚ hàn zi” (literally translated as “female man” in English), etc. What are the target, function and mechanism behind the tendency to use masculine references?
