We characterised the microbial communities of two Australian-endemic platypodine ambrosia beetle species, Platypus omnivorus and Treptoplatypus crenatus, across a distance of over 2,200 km in eastern Australia. We also investigated whether microbes were shared between these two deadwood generalists and an inquiline weevil, Catagogus diorymerus, when developing in a co-inhabited tree.
