The green peafowl (Pavo muticus) is facing a high risk of extinction due to the long-lasting and widespread threats of poaching and habitat conversion. Evaluation of genome-wide consequences of its continuous declining and making genetic rescue plans to recover its population are badly needed. Here, we presented a chromosome-level genome assembly of a green peafowl genome with high quality, contiguity and accuracy assembled by PacBio sequencing, DNBSEQ short-read sequencing, and Hi-C sequencing technologies.
