Probably not a valid species (see Guerra-García et al. 2010)Caprella mendax Mayer, 1903(Thilagavathi et al. 2013)According to McCain & Steinberg (1970) Caprella mendax is a synonym of Caprella equilibra Say, 1818Caprella palkii Giles, 1890Giles (1888)Type material housed in the Natural History Museum, London in very poor condition. Pereonites 6 and 7 are fused indicating that it probably belongs to Metaprotella instead of Caprella. He found only a female of P. pusilla from Kerala and several hundred specimens of P. barnardi from hydroid colonies at Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry. However, Sivaprakasam’s figures of Paracaprella barnardi (see Fig. 10, Sivaprakasam 1977) show that the specimens figured do not belong to P. barnardi; indeed, they probably belong to P. pusilla by the shape and size of ventrolateral projection of pereonite 2, the shape of gnathopod 2 and the small size of the anterodorsal tubercle on pereonite 2. Therefore, the presence of P. barnardi in India is questionable (see Guerra-García et al. 2010)Parhyale fascigera Stebbing, 1897Surya Rao (1972)Restricted to Caribbean and Eastern PacificPereionotus testudo (Montagu, 1808)Surya Rao (1972)Restricted to Mediterranean-Atlantic (Ruffo 1982)Platorchestia platensis (Krøyer, 1845)K.H. Barnard (1935); Dev Roy et al. (2009); Surya Rao (1962). All as Orchestia platensis Krøyer, 1845; Thilagavathi et al. (2013) as Orchestia platensis Krøyer, 1845Known only from the type locality in Uruguay (Myers & Lowry 2023) and the Eastern North Atlantic and MediterraneanSynchelidium haplocheles (Grube, 1864)Chilton (1921); Surya Rao (1972)Restricted to the North East Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea (Ledoyer 1993)Tritella pilimana Mayer, 1890Sivaprakasam, 1970d; Venkataraman, 2007Known only from North Pacific (Laubitz 1970). Figures of this species are incomplete in Sivaprakasam (1970d) but do not correspond to T. pilimana. They seem to correspond to Paracaprella pusilla, which is common in India.
