Genetic characterisation of Colistin resistant Escherichia coli serotypes

This study aims to perform molecular characterisation of colistin resistance determinants in pathogenic Escherichia coli serotypes from drinking and wastewater as well as cattle faeces. The specific objectives of the study will be: To isolate and identify the E. coli isolates from cattle faecal and water of samples. To perform an anti-microbial susceptibility test of isolates against colistin and identify the resistance-positive isolate To perform Whole genome sequencing of the amplified isolates and identify them using a Gene-Bank database tool. To identify the serotypes of the colistin resistant-E. coli sequences and categorize them in their respective phylogroups using serotype database tools.
