资源简介:

This dataset compiles data collected through camera trap monitoring of 64 Caiman latirostris nests over four nesting seasons (2018–2022) in Santa Fe, Argentina. The study aimed to describe the behavioral patterns of female caimans, and evaluate maternal care and nesting success in the Broad-snouted Caiman females to examine the associations with factors that might potentiality influence this process: nesting environment, anthropogenic disturbance and egg predator activity. The dataset includes metadata on nesting success, visitation rate of female caimans and visitation rate of predators. Maternal care was more frequently observed in marsh nests. However, maternal care did not significantly vary in response to anthropogenic disturbances, nor across nesting seasons. Overall, 38% (24 out of 64) of the nests were successful, and success was positively associated with maternal care.
