Synthesis, crystal structure and catalytic property of a cadmium(II) coordination polymer derived from a zwitterionic carboxylate ligand

A new Cadmium(II) zwitterionic coordination polymer, {[Cd(cbdcp)(H2O)4]·H2O}n, (1) was synthesized based on the 1-(3,5-dicarboxybenzyl)-4,4′-bipyridinium bromide (H3cbdcpBr) organic linker. In 1, Cd(II) cations are connected by cbdcp2− anions to form a one-dimensional chain structure, which are further connected to generate a hydrogen bonded-extended three-dimensional supramolecular network. Furthermore, thermal stability and catalyitic activity of 1 have also been investigated.
