Through the success of this SONATA BIS project I will be able to develop antiferromagnetic spintronics in two routes: 1. development of piezoelectric switching of antiferromagnetic materials, including both metallic and insulating antiferromagnets (AFMs) • for metallic AFMs we will determine how ultra-thin doping at the interface modifies piezoelectric switching in the metallic AFMs, • in case of insulating AFMs we will work on piezospintronics device with AFM insulator as the active element, 2. study of the voltage control of magnetic anisotropy (VCMA) effect in AFMs • we will grow high-quality thin AFM layer and examine how the spin structure of antiferromagnetic layers depends on the electric field. The common goal of both routes is to deliver groundbreaking results on (piezo)spintronics device with AFMs as active elements.
