Complete genome sequencing of the newly characterized bean pathogen Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. phaseoli LPPA 982 (=CECT 8144 =LMG 27667). The type strain was isolated from infected bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris). This novel bean phytopathogen harbors one plasmid. The genomic description of this bacterium will be crucial to analyze the set of genes involved either in virulence or that allows the colonization and disease progression on bean. Moreover, the availability of the complete genome of this subspecies together with the other subspecies of Clavibacter will be useful for the development of comparative genomics studies such as Pan-Core genome analysis and also to understand the diversification and speciation of the subspecies that conforms currently the Clavibacter genus.
