Post-mortem brain tissues were obtained from the Sudden Death Brain Bank and divided into young (20 to 33 years) and old (70 to 74 years) cohorts. There was no significant difference in the post-mortem intervals between the young and old cohorts (p = 0.48). Age-matched resected tissues (19 to 70 years) were collected from the Southampton General Hospital. Neuropathological abnormalities were found in cases 0011 and 0020 but no neurodegenerative changes were detected in any of the human tissues.
