Information Table on the Construction Status of Ancient Chinese Character Database

With the continuous in-depth collation of unearthed documents, the achievements in the construction of ancient Chinese character databases have become increasingly fruitful, providing important data support for the research of paleography, Digital Epigraphy and related interdisciplinary fields. To comprehensively sort out the construction status, distribution characteristics and openness of existing ancient Chinese character databases, clarify the layout of data resources in the field, and facilitate efficient retrieval, sharing and reuse of relevant data by the academic community, we have carried out systematic investigation and sorting work on publicly accessible ancient Chinese character databases at home and abroad. A total of 53 valid ancient Chinese character databases were included in this survey, covering databases related to various ancient Chinese character carriers such as oracle-bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions and bamboo slips, and the Information Table on the Construction of Ancient Chinese Character Databases was compiled based on the survey results.This information table systematically integrates the core basic information of each database, including the database name, construction unit (or individual builder), official access address, open sharing status and brief description. The brief description part clarifies the core collection scope, functional characteristics and construction highlights of each database, clearly presenting the current construction level and resource characteristics of ancient Chinese character databases. Adhering to the FAIR principles (Discoverability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability) advocated by ScienceDB, this dataset has undergone standardized collation and review to ensure the accuracy, completeness and availability of data. It aims to provide comprehensive and accurate reference on database construction for researchers in this field, promote the open sharing and efficient utilization of ancient Chinese character data resources, facilitate the interdisciplinary integration and development as well as academic innovation of related disciplines, and provide data support and direction reference for the subsequent construction and optimization of ancient Chinese character databases.
