Increasing macroalgal biomass, due to warming and less of sea-ice, has serious biogeochemical implications in the shallow high Arctic regions. Present study evaluated response of pelagic bacterial communities of Kongsfjorden to alginate (AL) and agarose (AG) amendments, two highly abundant complex polysaccharides in the macroalgae, in an ex-situ microcosm experiment.
