Three data items drawn from fieldwork studying boomed areas and suburbs in Pretoria-Tshwane. Item 1, consists of a field writing excerpt of observations and data made during a walk taken through and around a boomed suburb, including descriptions of different actors and city spaces. All participant, street, and area names have been anonymized. Item 2, consists of an excerpt of an anonymized semi-formal interview held with a participant of the research study who resides in a boomed suburb/area. The participant explains reasons for living in the suburb, benefits and inconveniences, as well as a sense of community. Street names have been redacted. Item 3, consists of a photo taken during fieldwork showcasing the hybrid interplay between public and private infrastructures in boomed suburbs in Pretoria-Tshwane. The photo displays a stop sign being held up by a municipal electricity pole with rope.
