The co-fermentation of citrus agroindustrial wastes in acidogenic reactors aiming to obtain hydrogen has been little explored, the high load of added sugars of these substrates and the low alkalinizing capacity represents a challenge to the stability of the process. The effect of the application of two different alkalizing agents (NaHCO3 and CaCO3) in the process was evaluated, being compared to the control submitted only to the adjustment of the initial pH. Through a fractional experimental design, the evaluation of the use of the buffer with the best response had its effect better explored by combining different alkalinizing concentrations (1.0 - 4.0 g/L) and initial substrate concentrations (RSL 7.0 - 25, 0 gSTV/L and ARL 1.0 - 3.0 gCOD/L).
