Monitoring of the Contaminant Levels in Arctic Caribou in Northern Yukon and Southwestern Nunavut: Making More Informed Decisions About Food Consumption

To determine levels, and temporal trends, in contaminants in Arctic caribou in order to provide information to northerners regarding contaminants in these traditional foods, including providing information for health assessments and/or advisories as required. This will enable northerners to make more informed choices about food consumption, wildlife managers to assess possible health effects of contaminants on Arctic caribou populations and researchers to further understand the fate and effects of contaminant deposition and transport to the Canadian Arctic.
