The goal was to study paralog functional diversification within an evolutionarily young tandem multigene family, Sdic. Testis from four strains (ISO1, A4, A7, B6) were RNA sequenced to characterize the relationship between Sdic copy number variation and Sdic expression, as well as Sdic paralog functional diversification. Testis from four strains (4361, A4y, A7y, B6y) and male accessory glands from two strains (4361, A7y) were RNA sequenced to characterize the trans-regulatory effect of the Y chromosome on Sdic expression. A4y, A7y, B6y are synthetic strains generated to carry the same 4361 genome background, but differing only in their Y chromosome origin (from A4, A7, or B6)
