Number of illegal dumps containing plastic waste in Europe 2024, by country

As of October 2024, the number of estimated illegal dumps containing plastic waste in Romania reached almost 10,600, the largest number recorded across Europe. Slovakia registered the second-highest count of illegal dumps that year, at some 6,800.
