Inpatient and outpatient discharge data from Mississippi Department of Health obtained from 2016-2022

Inpatient and outpatient discharge claims from Mississippi hospitals, covering the period 2016–2022, were obtained through the Mississippi Department of Health. These claims include ICD codes, CPT procedures, and demographic information related to the patients’ county of residence. No personally identifiable information (such as names, social security numbers, phone numbers, or street addresses) was included. The submitted data include diagnoses of chronic conditions such as high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, anemia, arthritis, kidney disease, heart disease, COPD, heart failure, obesity. In addition to the above conditions, the inpatient data also included diagnoses related to depression and dementia-related symptoms. For inpatient data, it included all outpatient data plus depression and dementia related symptoms.
