Serum from Aotus monkeys immunized with the epitope displayed an IFA antibody titer at 15-20 days after the second immunization and 20 days after the third immunization. The anti-25608 antibody displayed a membrane fluorescence pattern on P. falciparum sporozoites. Substitution of sporozoite-hepatocyte critical binding residues, at positions R4F, D10P in the natural sequence and addition of C-terminal NANP, made the peptide more immunogenic and modified its 3D structure.
