资源简介:
Repairing and creating marine and aquatic habitats with tissue-cultured plants is a challenging yet promising venture. Researchers are even developing strains of marsh plants with specific, desirable traits for restoration. This publication is intended to provide an overview of the rapidly emerging technology of tissue culture. It addresses the history of micropropagation and its more recent use in culturing marine, aquatic and dune plants. It details the work of a group of researchers in Florida, North Carolina and Delaware who are developing protocols for producing a number of seagrasses, marsh plants and dune grasses through tissue culture. The manual also addresses the history of micropropagation and covers restoration research, genetic engineering, industry needs, technology transfer, and future direction of the science. This report is the outcome of a workshop held in March 1995. Grant no. NA36RGO0499
