This project employs a hybrid metagenomic sequencing approach using both Illumina and Nanopore platforms to investigate deep-sea microbial genomic dynamics in the South China Sea. Samples were collected in situ from the deep water column ranging from 1000 to 1100m during winter and summer cruises. The study generated high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) that reveal widespread genomic structural variations and gene copy variants. These findings provide insights into how deep-sea prokaryotes adapt to seasonal changes and oligotrophic conditions through mechanisms such as gene duplication and horizontal gene transfer. This resource lays the foundation for further research on microbial adaptation, biogeochemical cycling, and the impact of anthropogenic influences in deep-sea environments.
