This survey is a data collection method for a master's thesis in 2019. The survey has been distributed to all Finnish police departments and the responding has taken place in the Webropol service from 11 December 2018 to 12 February 2019. Informants are police officers. The survey includes 12 imagined situations in which the police maintaining public order and security. Each situation ends with the question “what do you say”. The informant has written an imagined speech for each situations and has defined his speech act as advice, request or order (Police Act 872/2011 § 6). The informant may also have defined his speech as something else. 115 police officers responded to the survey. Research data includes a total of 1 307 speech acts in which the police present an imagined directive to an imagined citizen.
