Reconoce la muerte de Fray Luis Jayme y expresa alivio que las familias destinadas a Monterey lograron llegar sin encontrarse con la violencia. Expresando desconfianza hacia los indígenas catequizados, indica que solicitó al gobernador Don Felipe Neve reclutar más soldados para brindar protección a las misiones y frailes, instando a apoyar esta estrategia en el resto de la carta.
