10 published Xanthomonas vasicola pv. vasculorum assemblies from South Africa (Sankoet al. 2018), ranged in size from 3.8 to 4.5 Mbp, significantly less than the average size for other X. vasicola genomes (4.9 Mbp) and alignments to reference genomes revealed large fragments missing from the assemblies (Perez-Quintero et al 2020). These genomes were thus reassembled from available Illumina raw reads. The new assemblies had expected sizes and were not missing large regions.
