Microbial community structure is influenced by natural processes and human activities. Although microorganisms play a role in pollutant degradation, there are some studies on how WWTP effluents affect coastal receiving areas. In this study, samples were collected from the bottom and surface of the water column of two WWTP receiving areas in the Split coastal area. We investigated the microbiome at the bottom (40m and 35m depth) and the surface (0.5m depth) of the water column under stratified and unstratified water column conditions.
