Abstract

The Country Opinion Survey in United Arab Emirates (UAE) assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in UAE perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in UAE on:
1) their views regarding the general environment in UAE;
2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in UAE;
3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in UAE; and
4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in UAE.

From February to April 2018, 711 stakeholders of the WBG in four GCC countries (109 in Bahrain; 269 in Kuwait; 173 in Oman, and 160 in UAE) were invited to provide their opinions on the WBG's work in the country by participating in a Country Opinion Survey. Participants were drawn from the Office of a Minister, Office of a Parliamentarian, employees of ministries/ministerial departments/implementation agencies, Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of WBG activities and consultants/contractors working on WBG-supported activities, bilateral and multilateral agencies; private sector organizations, private foundations, the financial sector/private banks, NGOs and community-based organizations (CBOs), the media, independent government institutions, chambers of commerce, academia/research institutes/think tanks, the judiciary branch, and other organizations.
