Prokaryotic metagenomics of the Juliana River Basin

In the southern part of Bahia State, Brazil, one of the largest remaining fragments of the Atlantic Forest can be found within the limits of an Environmental Protection Area (APA) called APA do Pratigi. Since it was created in 1998, research on the evaluation of environmental conditions of the APA have shown that the preservation efforts have been effective, culminating in a high environmental quality. One of the most important watersheds in this region is the Juliana River basin, located entirely within the protection area. This basin comprises an area of 29.975ha, with the linear course of the Juliana River running 47km long from the springs in the mountains of Papua to the mouth in the Serinhaem estuary.This is a collection of prokaryote 16S rRNA amplicon metagenomics data from the river source, river valley, and a anthropogenically impacted mangrove in estuary.
