Direct reprogramming of fibroblasts into spiral ganglion neurons by defined transcription factors

Spiral ganglion neuron (SGN) degeneration is a major contributor to sensorineural hearing loss, significantly impacting the outcomes of cochlear implantation. The functional regeneration of SGNs holds promise for treating neurosensorineural hearing loss and improving cochlear implant effectiveness. We conducted unbiased screening and single cell sequencing in the hope of finding a combination of transcription factors that could facilitate the fate transition of fibroblasts to auditory neurons.
