Meiofauna from the Azores

This dataset is from a study of marine meiofauna collected from intertidal and shallow subtidal sediments at multiple sites around Sao Miguel Island in the Azores. The study aimed to document eukaryotic diversity using DNA metabarcoding of the 18S rRNA V9 region, focusing particularly on groups often overlooked in morphology-based surveys. This project contributes to the discovery of meiofauna biodiversity in this remote, ecologically distinctive island setting. This dataset is intended to support future ecological, biogeographical, and biomonitoring research in marine environments.
