Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase kinase (PEPCK,EC 4.1.1.49) is a bifunctional enzyme and is a key enzyme in intersection of the main metabolic pathway. In order to reveal the biological function of PtPCK1 in maintaining the balance of carbon and nitrogen metabolism in plants, overexpression and suppression of PtPCK1 in transgenic plants were characterized for their transcriptomes and metabolome. This Project reveals the importance of PtPCK1 in maintaining carbon and nitrogen balance in plants.
