Characterization of intratissue microbiota in oral lichen planus patients

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a T cell-mediated chronic inflammatory mucosal disease by unknown etiology. It has been reported that dysbiosis of oral microbiota is associated with OLP and bacterial invasion into lamina propria was increased in OLP compared with control tissues. However, the bacterial community within the tissue of OLP lesion has not been identified. This study aimed to characterize the bacterial community within the tissues of OLP lesions, and to identify the bacterial species enriched within the tissues.
