[C4OC] Torres Strait Regional Landcare Facilitator

The project will employ a Regional Landcare Facilitator (RLF) who will assist Indigenous communities throughout Torres Strait in developing locally innovative techniques, skills and capacity necessary to produce a larger quantity and wider range of higher quality fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. The project will also lead to improvements in natural resource management techniques, and Torres Strait communities placing a higher value on native biodiversity and their role in agricultural production. It seeks to motivate people to re-engage with and develop an interest in food gardening, an activity that was once a fundamental aspect of traditional daily life in the Torres Strait. The project recognises the immense value of traditional knowledge, skills and practices in relation to horticultural production.
