Political attitudes and judgement on the effects of the impending
unification of the two German nations.

Topics: judgement on the economic situation as well as assessment of
further economic development in the Federal Republic as well as in the
GDR; personal economic situation and expected development; fair share
of gross national product; importance of areas of life and social norms
(scale); joy at German unity; assessment of the economic and political
consequences of German unity (scale); attitude to acceptance of the
constitution or preference for a new constitution; areas of particular
solidarity of all Germans; typology of German characteristics; a united
Germany as a hinderance for EC integration; feeling as a European;
preference for a European domestic market or the moving closer together
of Western and Eastern Europe; ties to country or preference for a life
abroad; perceived enrichment or disturbance through living together
with foreigners; understanding of democracy (scale); ligitimacy of
social differences; trust in other people; attribution of individual
success; satisfaction with democracy; concepts of freedom (scale);
degree of realization of personal freedom; potential helpers or helping
institutions in health, financial and personal problems or in
emergencies; party preference (rank order procedure and Sunday
question); sympathy scale for the CDU, CSU, SPD, FDP, the Greens,
Republicans, PDS, DSU and DA; religiousness.
