Pershore Road, Evesham, Worcestershire

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in July 2013 on land at Pershore Road, Evesham. Twenty-six trenches were excavated. An area of medieval activity comprising ditches and pits was identified in the eastern half of the site and is likely to be of 12th to 14th-century date. Evidence for extensive ridge and furrow cultivation was identified in the western part of the site and may have truncated earlier remains. This may in part be responsible for the lack of evidence for the continuation of known Bronze Age material to the south. The evaluation results are in line with archaeological research expectations based on current knowledge of the area and would not indicate remains of sufficient importance to preclude development.
