Data for a focussed synthesis of net effect studies in plant-plant interaction ecology

The Web of Science was queried in April 2025 for studies that reported ‘net effect*’ anywhere within the publication. Studies were refined to ecology, environmental science, and agriculture research fields. A total of 467 studies were retrieved. Through screen and full text review, 58 studies directly mentioned net effects in plant ecology experiments. A total of 12 studies comprising 75 independent trials were retrieved for a total of 740 experimental replicates (i.e. plots, sites, or microsite). A PRISMA diagram is included. Data report sample sizes and Hedge's d and g effect size measures.
