Entomopathogenic microorganisms infecting arthropods, like mites and insects, play an important role in pest control management. Serratia entomophila is a highly host-specific insect pathogen infecting and killing New Zealand grass grub larvae and related products are used as biopesticides for decades. Here we report the first Serratia entomophila Grimont et al. 1988 (strain A1) full genome sequence as a basis towards understanding host pathogen interactions, mechanisms and how application can be adapted to suit the design as a biocontrol agent.
