资源简介:
In this study, a population of the aquatic invasive snail Potamopyrgus antipodarum (Gray, 1843) was subjected to a brief period of air exposure (20 hours) and to different physical and chemical conditions of the rehydration water (low -10 ºC- and normal -18 ºC- water temperatures and normal -300 μS/cm- and high -3000 μS/cm- water conductivities) to assess their effects on the mortality, behavior and reproduction of this snail. Six treatments were established (Table 1). Each treatment was replicated 7 times with eight individuals per replicate. During the first six days after rehydration, a high percentage of snails died. Therefore, the survivors to air exposure and an equal number of individuals from the respective controls were individually translocated, generating new replicates. To avoid pseudoreplication, the surviving individuals of the same replicates were averaged afterwards.
These datasets show the raw data collected during the 50-day experiment.
Dataset1 and Dataset2: These data represent the number of dead adults assessed on days 3, 4, 5 and 6 after the rehydration and between 8-50 days after rehydration (n = 15 observations).
Dataset3: To assess behavior, two variables were analyzed: the reaction time (in seconds) employed by every individual to start normal movement after being disturbed and the cumulative number of immobile adults between 8-50 days after rehydration (n = 11 observations). A snail was considered immobile when its reaction time exceeded 150 seconds. 150 seconds were assigned as reaction time for immobile individuals.
Dataset4: Reproduction at 7 days after rehydration were studied through the total number of neonates per live adult (n = 1 observation)
Dataset5: Reproduction between 8-50 days after rehydration were assessed through three variables: the number of total, dead and live neonates (n = 6 observations).
Dataset6: These data represent the conductivity (μS/cm), dissolved oxygen (mg/L) and temperature (ºC) of water, that were monitored every 1-2 weeks for 50 days by randomly selecting three glass vessels of each treatment.
Dataset7: These data represent the temperature (ºC) and relative humidity (%) measured during the desiccation period carried out in a climatic chamber at 18ºC (n = 37 measures).
Dataset8 and dataset9: These data represent the temperature (ºC) and relative humidity (%) measured in the two climatic chambers used to attain the target water temperatures (18 ºC and 10 ºC respectively) (n = 389 measures in each climatic chamber).
