The invention relates to a cutting device (1) for transforming a quarter of wood (32) into several logs comprising: - a feeding station (5) at the front for depositing the quarter in said cutting device， - a conveyor (7) for transferring on the one hand the whole quarter (32) to at least one cutting station (9 ) and on the other hand the logs to an evacuation station (6)， characterized in that the cutting station (9) comprises two circular saws (9a， 9b) cutting the quarter (32) concomitantly and transversely， mounted on a mechanism for moving the circular saws (9a， 9b) between a cutting position and a position retracted downwards under the conveyor (7)， said circular saws (9a， 9b) having a draft angle flaring in the forward direction of the transporter (7).
